For years, we’ve called this corner of Southwest Michigan home. We’re the Shunkwilers, and like many of you, we’ve driven past the little white church at the corner of Hinchman and Scottdale Roads more times than we can count. We always knew it was special. So when the opportunity came to purchase the historic Hinchman Church, we knew we had to take it. Not just to save a piece of local history, but to give it a new purpose.

Our goal is simple: to keep this beautiful place alive for the community.

From Historic Church to Community Hub

This building has been a landmark in Berrien Springs since 1884. It was even rebuilt by the community after a fire in 1922. That resilience and history are part of its foundation. We’re not developers looking to flip a property; we’re a local family that wants to preserve this landmark and share it.

While the church’s dedicated congregation will continue to meet here for Sunday services, we are excited to open up the space for everyone. We’re transforming it into the Hinchman Church Community Center, a welcoming and affordable event venue for the people of Berrien Springs, St. Joseph, and beyond.
